Inspiration
Since the start of the pandemic, local businesses have suffered a lot, especially with lockdowns being imposed time and again. So we thought why not create something that empowers these small businesses? And that's when we came up with the idea of BEST which stands for Business, Establish, Sell and Thrive! So what's BEST? Well, it is NOT just an eCommerce site. BEST tries to empower local sellers not only by helping them sell their products on BEST - ESTORE but also by allowing them to meet investors and collaborators! So, BEST offers everyone something (BEST right?) whether you are an investor, a customer, or a local seller!
What it does
BEST allows a new user to sign up as either a customer, investor, or local seller. As a customer, one has access to the BEST ESTORE. As a local seller, one can add products and sell them on the Store. As an investor, one can quote prices and get involved with local businesses. BEST also allows one on one chat.
How we built it
For the front end, we used HTML, CSS, and JAVASCRIPT. For the backend, we used Node, Express, and MongoDB. For real-time chat, we used socket.io.
Challenges we ran into
The connection between the chat app and the database was a bit challenging.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the site we have built since we did almost to what we expected within the short time frame.

We learned about socket.io and mongoB in a bit more detail.
What's next for BEST
Due to lack of time some pages could not be designed. We aim to design those pages and improve the UI. Also soon we would add more features like payment etc.
