Inspiration

We were inspired to create BeSafe after realizing how frequently abuse victims encountered obstacles such as lack of resources, ignorance, and isolation from their abusers. Our goal was to develop a system that gives people access to a virtual safe haven where they may ask for help and feel safe again.

What it does

BeSafe is a full of functionality personal safety app made to help victims of abuse overcome obstacles. Features like the Emergency SOS Button for instant assistance, the Community Support Platform for exchanging experiences and accessing resources, the Talk to Frimi feature for individualized support, the Spycam Detector for increased security, and the Account Functionality feature for accessing instructional materials and anti-spycam protection features are just a few of the features it provides.

How we built it

BeSafe was developed using a variety of tools and techniques. We first used ideation tools to create a conceptual understanding of the app's features. We used wireframing using Figma to represent the app's functionality and layout, making it accessible and simple for users to navigate. We also prototyped several features and workflows using a no-code method, which helped us demonstrate how the app will work.

Challenges we ran into

Since every abuse victim's circumstance is different, developing an app that caters to their varied demands presented us with several hurdles. We also have to integrate technological developments to offer creative solutions that better support and safeguard people. In particular, with features like the Emergency SOS Button and Spycam Detector, these challenges included addressing privacy and security issues and guaranteeing a seamless user experience.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We take great pride in having created a thorough safety app that meets the many needs of victims of abuse and gives them the ability to ask for assistance and support. Our success comes from designing an intuitive user interface, including cutting-edge functions like artificial intelligence (AI) support and anti-spycam safeguards, and putting user privacy and safety first from the beginning of the development process.

What we learned

We learned a great deal about the difficulties experienced by abuse victims and the significance of fostering inclusive and encouraging digital environments through the development of BeSafe. Our software now has AI and anti-spycam protection, and we learned how to include these cutting-edge technology while maintaining accessibility and usability for all users.
