Inspiration

UCL timetables with very awkward spreads and large gaps in between

What it does

Providing you with a list of potential UCLU events to fill your spare time.

How we built it

Scrapped data using php from the UCLU website and display it on the webpage using javascript, html + css

Challenges we ran into

Challenge when attempting to scrape data from the website and reformatting into desired JSON file.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Made the app dynamically update according to the JSON data scrapped

What we learned

A lot of website design and how to make the website user-friendly while providing functionality The difficulty and complexity of using php to scrape data off web pages

What's next for Better Times

Scaling the app more such that it can incorporate all UCL events not just limited to UCLU events but including UCL career events and many others

Incorporating data scrapped from registered UCLU events to display on the timetable such that registered events also show on it

Potential incorporation into the UCL GO app to provide a central platform that simplifies the planning and time management of being a busy UCL student
