Inspiration

This project was born from a desire to elevate my 3D modeling abilities. Motivated by the challenge of achieving high precision and pushing the boundaries of what's achievable, I embarked on a journey to expand my skillset. With a commitment to mastering intricate details and high specifications, this project was a test to my dedication to continuous improvement and the art of precision in the world of 3D design.

What it does

This fully functional model comes to life in Autodesk Animation, demonstrating seamless movement as it responds effortlessly to applied forces.

How I built it

Individually modelling each component to specific tolerances, while exploring diverse material compositions, to showcase the software's rendering abilities. I Opted for a sleek aesthetic, reflective metallic materials were chosen. These intricately modelled components were converged in a single assembly file. This resulted in a stunning visual spectacle, the project encompassed detailed renders.

Challenges I ran into

While crafting individual parts, I faced challenges in making certain shapes efficiently, like using tools such as 'loft' and 'mirror,' or adding smooth edges. Once I researched these tools, I could use them for other parts too, making the process faster. Assembly was another challenge due to different-sized components. Figuring out how parts fit together – 'rigid' or 'concentric' fits – was a learning process. Finally, I cracked it, resulting in a working 3D engine model.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I am thrilled with the impressive renders of the model. This project brought me immense joy, developing a deep passion for 3D modelling in every step

What I learned

I acquired an array of new tools and techniques, enabling the swift and efficient creation of high-tolerance components.

What's next for Bernays Engine: Pushing Autodesk's Limits

Completing this project opened the door to my love for precise 3D modeling. You can see my passion in the images above, featuring various projects I've crafted The second project spotlights an intricately 3D modelled Ice Cream Scoop, born from a captivating 'Reverse Engineering' endeavour. The third project is an Underground Parking garage designed to solve city parking issues. Lastly, a visionary project unfolds—a Mars-traversing autonomous vehicle scaling uneven terrains. This innovative creation boasts a differential gear system, allowing its 'legs' to navigate in various directions while maintaining a level body.
