Inspiration

Remember the last time when you stumbled across a fantastic song that you'd never have thought you'd like and that your Spotify algos would never have had on their radars? Chances are high, that you received it from somebody else! Music is such an enriching and valuable thing, and striving for more eye-openers like this inspired us to create BeatReal!

What it does

BeatReal offers a platform for music sharing and discovery: Join small groups together with your family and friends and share your newest shiny piece of music whenever the app suggests you to do so. React on your group member's shares and see your own songs climb the rankings. Explore the global rankings to increase the chances of surprising musical discoveries even more!

How we built it

We built the mobile app using React Native and Tailwind. The backend is developed using Node.js, Express and Firebase.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into front-end and back-end integration issues initially.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Within a short timeframe of 24 hours, we managed to put together a full-stack application that allows users to create groups and share music with their friends. We encountered several issues along the way and fixed them together as a team.

What we learned

We learned new technologies such as React Native and Firebase. We also learned to use Tailwind to deploy the backend.

What's next for BeReal for Music

Bring more people and features to the stage! Enable group and global statistics, based on reactions. Give room to influencers and creators so that their followers can see their newest discoveries as well!
