Inspiration As students at Bennett University, we noticed a common problem — everything felt scattered. Important updates were buried in WhatsApp groups, students had no clue about lost items, the cafeteria menu was a mystery, and reporting campus issues was a hassle. So we thought — why not build a centralized, student-first platform to connect every aspect of campus life? Thus, BenNet was born — a smart, modern campus companion made by students, for students.

What it does BenNet brings the whole campus experience into one seamless app. Students can:

Sign in securely

Navigate using the interactive campus map Report issues like broken equipment or hostel complaints Post or claim items on the Lost & Found board Check the daily cafeteria menu Get event & notification updates instantly Track attendance and academic updates (student portal) Switch between Dark/Light mode with a smooth and aesthetic UI

Everything is optimized for speed, ease, and clarity — no clutter, no confusion.

How we built it We built BenNet using: React Native + TypeScript for the frontend Tailwind CSS for styling with a clean, responsive design Supabase as the backend for user authentication and data storage React Leaflet for live campus map rendering Lucide-react for modern icons Smooth animations and transitions for polished UX Every line of code was written keeping real usability and future scalability in mind.

Challenges we ran into Getting location tracking to work smoothly without killing performance Designing a UI that felt fresh but still intuitive Managing Supabase row-level security and permissions correctly Handling real-time data updates without making the app feel slow Working solo (or in a small team) meant juggling design, code, and logic together

Accomplishments we’re proud of Built a fully working app — not just a prototype Designed an interface that even non-tech students loved using Created a modular architecture that’s ready to scale with more features Gained real support/interest from fellow students and faculty Managed to balance aesthetics and functionality perfectly

What we learned How to manage full-stack app development from scratch Real-world use of tools like Supabase, React Native, and Tailwind Importance of great UI/UX in apps made for young audiences How to plan features that solve actual day-to-day problems How powerful a simple idea can become when executed well

What’s next for BenNet Add club registration & participation tracker Implement push notifications Introduce admin panel for moderation and announcements Add QR-based attendance check-ins

Launch it officially in our university — and maybe beyond!
