I've worked in financial services for and accounting for 15+ years and believe that companies should have a way of trusting each other for better economic terms. "BeneFactor" is intended as a B2B tool for companies to get a measure of financial health of their clients using some light weight algorithms on financial data. "Bene" is bank parlance for the beneficiary of a transaction, and Italian for good. The concept is to data mine transaction details on who pays (or invests in) a client, and who they pay and when, and let the transactions tell a deeper story of how well a client is doing. The bank data and other factors will be added via APIs to create a Klout-like financial scores based on financial data sources.

The vision is a SalesForce data element addition and API so that reporting and alerts can include "BeneFactor". Financial Force could also utilize the tool to do financial planning & analysis.

Platform note: The Open Financial eXchange (OFX) is an XML format widely used in open source efforts (OFXclient for Python) and all banks and FIs are listed on OFXHome, Intuit's site, and other sources. GNUCash is also another indicator of the open nature of OFX.

I have not coded for a long time, so ramping up on syntax and the API ecosystem and this is my first hack-a-thon.
