Ben Swolo Learns to Drive by The J Team

Ben Swolo comes back to life as a robot whose sole purpose is to drive through hallways autonomously. Trained on Google Colaboratory, model running in AWS, streamed commands through Tailscale.

Ben Swolo, the Comma Body

Ben runs on a ResNet18 model trained on a dataset we created. The dataset was collected by manually driving the set course 12-15 times using the web UI. Because of the limitations of the C3X hardware, we're running the model in an AWS EC2 instance which is streaming the control commands directly to the C3X using Tailscale as a bridge.

Future Ideas

  • Simulations for a better dataset

  • SLAM w/ or w/out LIDAR
