Inspiration
Well, my club, the Belmontian Club, provides community service opportunities to our high school's students. Now, I wanted to create my website using a 3D component, React, and Bootstrap. So, I had to figure out an environment which relates to the club, and I chose a school desk.
What it does
When you load in, you see a school desk, and then a folder on top of it that contains the website. You can hover your mouse over the pages and make them pop upwards, and if you click, it will come closer to the camera, so you can read the contents.
How I built it
A lot of really annoying animation systems. Oh my god, so annoying. We mainly used R3F, React, and Bootstrap.
Challenges I ran into
The time constraint was really tough, if I had more time, I could make it look more like a school desk, add pencils, erasers and such on the desk, add a classroom in the background, improve the actual content of the website.
Accomplishments that I am proud of
It took all of my time, but I am proud of the animations and how they are handled.
What I learned
With this time constraint, I needed to realize that a fully fledged 3D website was not going to work. I need to lessen the scope next time and focus on the most crucial components.
What's next for the Belmontian Club
Improve the website? Maybe?
