About the Project – BeliYo!
Inspiration
As international students in Korea, PPMK members often face challenges in buying affordable items, exchanging money safely, and finding opportunities to collaborate. We were inspired to create a digital platform that strengthens our student community while promoting sustainability and trust.
What it does
BeliYo! is a community platform for PPMK members that:
- 🛒 Provides a marketplace to buy and sell both used and new items
- 💱 Offers a money exchange board for peer-to-peer currency exchange
- 🎯 Hosts a mission board where students can share and complete small tasks or jobs
By centralizing these features, BeliYo! enhances digital connectivity within our student network.
How we built it
We built BeliYo! with the support of ChatAndBuild AI, which guided us in generating and refining code quickly.
- Backend & Database: Built on Supabase to handle authentication, data storage, and real-time updates
- Interface Design: Prototyped using Canva to create a clean, accessible, and student-friendly UI
- Collaboration Tools: GitHub for version control and seamless teamwork
This approach let us focus more on solving community problems while leveraging modern AI-assisted development.
Challenges we ran into
- Adapting to AI-assisted development: ensuring prompts and outputs matched our vision
- Handling Supabase integration for real-time updates and authentication
- Designing a trustworthy system for safe exchanges within the student community
- Managing time constraints while balancing multiple features (marketplace, exchange board, mission board)
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Successfully building a working prototype within the hackathon timeframe
- Using ChatAndBuild AI + Supabase effectively to deliver a functional product
- Creating a design that is intuitive, student-focused, and visually appealing
- Staying true to the HackPPMK25 theme: Enhancing Digital Connectivity within Student Communities
What we learned
- How to collaborate effectively under time pressure
- The strengths and limitations of AI-assisted coding in a hackathon setting
- Integrating Supabase for authentication and data handling in a practical project
- The importance of community-driven features in building trust and sustainability
What's next for BeliYo!
- Implementing a badge system to build trust between buyers and sellers
- Adding payment gateway integration for smoother transactions
- Expanding the mission board into a micro-job marketplace for students
- Deploying BeliYo! for the PPMK community and gathering real-world feedback
We also plan to introduce a trust score system to ensure safe interactions between members. A possible formula could be:
[ T = \alpha \cdot R + \beta \cdot C + \gamma \cdot B ]
Where:
- (R) = number of successful ratings from past trades
- (C) = number of completed community missions
- (B) = number of verified badges earned
- (\alpha, \beta, \gamma) = weight factors that balance fairness and trustworthiness
This would help build a reliable ecosystem where trustworthy members are rewarded and recognized.
