Inspiration
The modern world is plagued with decision fatigue. Some of us have resorted to carrying around dice so as not to have a breakdown in public any time a decision is required. behave. puts an end to all that suffering by offloading your decision fatigue onto the masses, presuming you've got friends - don't worry if you don't, our behave. bot will pretend to be your friend. We hope this app brings about an end to the epidemic of indecision in the modern age, either through absolving people of their need to make a decision, or by otherwise forcing them to accept undesirable outcomes forced upon them by their friends.
What it does
The user has the ability to post one question at a time, with a poll of options and a time limit. When posted, the user's friends will receive a notification alerting them of the poll and they will have until the end of the time limit to respond. After the completion of the poll, the user must then post proof of having obeyed the poll using the camera function. Users friends can only see the proof if they participated in the poll.
How we built it
Started to work with react-native. Had a breakdown. Bon appetit.
Challenges we ran into
react-native and UI libraries not working as intended, particularly with them not being compatible with Expo.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Successfully integrating a camera function into the app. Producing a functioning app, having never before used react-native or React.
What we learned
We became more familiar with and came to appreciate the challenges of front-end development
What's next for behave.
Introducing a behave. bot that randomly votes alongside users' friends to add a bit more chaos to your crowd-sourced decision making, because what's life without a little bit of whimsy?
