Inspiration
We want a social media for good, to match charities with volunteers. Use social media without feeling bad.
What it does
But we only had 24 hours so we created a social media platform for volunteering. Organisations can join and put any volunteering opportunities they have, how many hours a week, location etc. Individual Users can make an account and are given recommendations of opportunities based on location and areas of preference such as youth work or environmental causes. Users can gain 'buzz' points based on how many hours they volunteer, which at certain milestones will have prizes and a tree planted in their name. These trees among with other things can be entered into the offset tracker, so people can be aware of their consumption. The user profiles not only show current volunteering roles but also 'charity investment portfolio' where user can give money frequently or as a one-off to different charities.
How we built it
We used, HTML, CSS, JavaScript as the main basis of our website. With more time it could be developed into an app.
Challenges we ran into
Lack of knowledge.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Learning together and making lovely new friends.
