Inspiration - Before the Call was inspired by a book I’m currently writing. After being introduced to AI storytelling tools, I wanted to experiment with bringing my story to life visually and emotionally through a short drama

What it does - The film explores love, trust, and loss through the story of two former lovers torn apart by a video of betrayal. When she refuses to believe his innocence and tragedy strikes, viewers are left questioning what’s real — and what’s already lost.

How we built it - I used Whisk to generate Pixar-style 3D images and Google Flow to animate the scenes with audio and lip sync. The process involved designing each frame, refining prompts for consistency, and blending visuals to match the tone of the story.

Challenges we ran into - Character consistency was a major challenge, as was creating prompts that captured the right emotion and movement. It took several revisions and creative editing to produce smooth, believable scenes.

Accomplishments that we're proud of - I’m proud of how Before the Call emotionally connects with viewers despite being created entirely with AI tools. It shows how storytelling and technology can merge to express complex human emotions.

What we learned - I learned how to use AI platforms like Whisk and Google Flow effectively, how to refine prompts for stronger visual storytelling, and how to adapt quickly when outputs didn’t align with my vision.

What's next for Before the Call - I plan to expand Before the Call into a short AI-driven series exploring different perspectives of love, misunderstanding, and fate — continuing to blend human emotion with digital storytelling.
