Inspiration
Our inspiration for this project came from our own experiences with mental health, and how being able to organize and contextualize our thoughts and feelings helped us understand our issues
What it does
It allows the user to record how they are feeling on a scale of 1 to 10, as well as allowing the user to type out their thoughts and feelings
How we built it
We used Django, a Python-based framework to simultaneously build both the front and the back end of our web app.
Challenges we ran into
One challenge that we ran into was settling on an idea that was challenging and feasible with our knowledge. Another challenge that we ran into was attempting to figure out what we needed to do once we had our hack in mind.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Proud of taking a plunge into our first hackathon, as well as how it came out to be.
What we learned
Through this hack, we learned how to locally host web apps, how to set up a python-based framework, and how to code in HTML. We also learned how to use GitHub to collaborate with each other.
What's next for Mental Check-In
One idea that we never got around to implementing was having it hosted on the cloud. We wanted to design a platform that could have healthcare professionals "Check-In" with their assigned users, ensuring that they were in a safe mental space.
