Inspiration
BeeGreat grew from a simple frustration: most productivity apps become another thing to manage. I took inspiration from Forest’s and Habitica's playful motivation.
What it does
BeeGreat turns a goal into a clear plan and one next action. Completing that action rewards progress with Honey and brings the user’s Hive and GolieBees to life.
How we built it
We built the mobile app with Expo and its web twin with TanStack. Both share Clerk authentication, a Convex backend, and a Flue-powered Bee agent using OpenRouter and ElevenLabs. (Technically we also have a Codex Adapter so people can use their ChatGPT Sub!)
Challenges we ran into
The biggest real challenge was to make a mobile app that felt like all the others, that's why I decided I specific theme, on the other hand I had the opposite problem, to make an app that no-ones needed, and that's why I went with a Goal app, since ANYONE has a goal in life!
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I built the complete first-focus loop, from spoken intention to finished task and live Hive feedback. Mobile and web share the same conversations, goals, agent, and real-time data.
What we learned
That GPT 5.6 Sol is a beast at computer use, it navigates iOS apps like it's his main feature. And thanks to the xCode MCP i didn't need to leave my Codex App at all!
What's next for BeeGreat
Next, we’ll finish the focus economy and test the full experience with real users. After that, I plan to add automatic time tracking, calendar awareness, and social challenges.
