Inspiration
We were inspired by the agency of AI, and how it could be used to give a tailored experience for every person, helping them in their fitness and health journey.
What it does
BeeFit is an adaptive fitness coach and tracker. As you make progress, BeeFit will give you customised advice based on your previous habits and completed tasks. As your timetable for the week changes, BeeFit changes in real time to let you practice health and fitness most efficiently, and gives you recommendations on exercises, food, and more.
How we built it
We built BeeFit as a python web application, running on Streamlit and Flask. We started with our original design of how this application would look like, then began from the API integration upwards to the front end polish.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into development challenges trying to understand what type of stack we wanted to run. We aren't very experienced with programming, so we couldn't understand the role of streamlit, flask, python and its interactions with each other. Learning this took time, but we were able to integrate many parts of this project together, despite time crunches at the end.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
As two physicists and a first year computer scientist, we're proud of how far we've come along in our journey of designing and programming today. We were able to create a product that reflects our troubles and our newly learnt skills, and as our first hackathon, we are proud of our effort in the last 32 hours.
What we learned
We've learnt more about Python, Front and Back end development, pair programming and design in this Hackathon today. Estimating the time it would take for certain parts of the project was something we learnt along the way, which often surprised us, and it's put us in a good position for future hackathons.
