Inspiration
As an electrical engineering diploma student, I recognized the extreme safety hazards field technicians face daily inside high-voltage substations—from invisible static electric fields to severe thermal stress. I wanted to use the Amazon Developer Hackathon 2026 to bridge the gap between heavy power systems and modern AI, creating an intelligent solution to protect human lives on the grid.
What it does
The application aggregates real-time telemetry from a simulated Bee Wearable AI device, tracking vital biometrics (Heart Rate, Internal Core Temperature) alongside critical environmental hazards (Static Electric Field Strength in kV/m). The system monitors these inputs simultaneously. If safe thresholds are crossed, the interface instantly shifts to a vivid red alert panel and allows the user to transmit an emergency SOS packet directly to AWS cloud architecture and Ring smart hubs.
How we built it
- Frontend & Simulation Logic: Formulated in Python utilizing the Streamlit framework.
- Core Infrastructure: Designed to interact with AWS Bedrock API frameworks for edge-based zero-shot risk inference.
- Development Ecosystem: The entire application was built, containerized, and deployed in a cloud-hosted Replit environment completely using a mobile phone.
Challenges we ran into
Transitioning from a heavy hardware-focused electrical engineering background into cloud application deployment presented a massive software learning curve. Furthermore, engineering a multi-metric data parsing logic dashboard entirely within a compact mobile browser environment required careful debugging of cloud network ports.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I successfully took a conceptual industrial IoT safety idea and turned it into a live, fully functional cloud web application. I am proud to show that non-software engineering students can successfully leverage advanced AI tools to build practical industrial tools.
What we learned
I gained massive insights into building interactive telemetry dashboards, linking client interfaces to simulated cloud relay networks, and formatting data frameworks for edge AI agents.
