Inspiration
My Bebe ji in Amritsar tells stories in pure Punjabi that my little cousins can't understand anymore. I wanted to save her REAL voice, not a fake AI clone, so future kids can still hear her warmth.
What it does
Virsa Vault - Bebe Di Voice Box lets families record Bebe/Dadi's original voice stories offline, save them privately on device only, and let kids listen anytime without internet. No AI cloning, only real voice.
How we built it
Flutter & Dart, local encrypted audio storage, simple 1-tap UI for elders, Punjabi fonts, waveform visualizer.
Challenges we ran into
Making it simple for elders to record, keeping privacy with no cloud upload, preserving audio quality for decades, keeping it culturally authentic.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
India's first offline voice preservation app. My real Bebe tested it in 1 tap!
What we learned
Elders need emotion, not features. Privacy is family honor.
What's next for Virsa Vault
Add Punjabi transcription, private family sharing via QR (no cloud), more Indian languages, and partnerships with Punjab heritage organizations.
Note on Demo: Demo YouTube video uses placeholder background music to protect my Bebe Ji's private voice. The final app uses only real, offline, original Bebe recordings saved securely on device.
