Inspiration

We were inspired by the lack of accessibility and inclusivity in the beauty industry for people with challenging abilities. We wanted to create a website that would make it easier and more enjoyable for differently abled people to find and use beauty products that suit their specific needs and preferences.

What it does?

BeautyEase is an inclusive website that enhances accessibility in the beauty industry and provides a seamless beauty experience for people with challenging abilities. Our website contains all the beauty products for differently abled people and provides information regarding allergies, as well as customizable settings for specific features. Some of the features are:

Accessibility: The website has features that make it easy for differently abled people to navigate, such as high contrast mode, adjustable font size, and screen reader compatibility. Product Categorization: The website categorizes all the beauty products for differently abled people according to their specific needs, such as for people with visual impairment, mobility challenges, or sensitive skin. Allergy Information: The website contains information regarding allergies and ingredients in each product, helping users to make informed decisions about what products to use. Customizable Settings: The website has settings that allow users to select specific features, such as voice command or touch screen, to enhance their beauty experience. How we built it We built our website using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap, and Flask. We used WebAIM and WAVE tools to check our website’s accessibility score and identify any issues or areas for improvement. We also used APIs from Google Cloud Vision, Amazon Product Advertising, and Spoonacular Food API to provide image recognition, product recommendations, and allergy information.

Challenges we ran into

Some of the challenges we ran into were:

Finding reliable sources of data and information about beauty products for differently abled people. Designing a user interface that is intuitive, responsive, and accessible for various devices and browsers. Integrating different APIs and ensuring they work smoothly with our website. Accomplishments that we’re proud of Some of the accomplishments we’re proud of are:

Creating a website that is accessible and inclusive for people with challenging abilities. Categorizing products according to specific needs and providing relevant information about allergies and ingredients. Adding customizable settings that allow users to personalize their beauty experience.

What we learned

Some of the things we learned are:

How to use different tools and APIs to enhance our website’s functionality and usability. How to design a user interface that is accessible and appealing for various users. How to work as a team remotely using GitHub, Slack, Zoom etc.

What’s next for BeautyEase

Some of the things we plan to do next are:

Add more products from different brands and categories. Add more features such as reviews, ratings, tutorials etc. Add more languages support such as 中文,日本語,Español etc.
