Inspiration

Our project was inspired by our knowledge of the serious side effects that can occur from using expired beauty products. Using expired products can cause irritation, acne, redness, skin or eye infections, or even swelling and blisters. We wanted to create something that would allow people to track these expiration dates in order to know when they had passed and avoid experiencing the negative side effects of using expired products.

What it does

Our app lets you track the best before dates of your beauty products in order to avoid using expired products. We also have spaces for noting your currently opened products and tracking your favourite and least favoruite products.

How we built it

We created our prototype using Figma.

Challenges we ran into

This was the first Hackathon for some of our teammates and none of us had much experience in Figma, so taking the initial first steps designing our project was difficult, however it gradually became easier as we were able to help each other along the way.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud that we were able to get more experience designing a product and produce something that we were proud of despite our little previous knowledge of Figma.

What we learned

We learned about using Figma, designing a user-friendly and attractive product, and how the process of a Hackathon works.

What's next for Beauty Hacks

Next up for Beauty Hacks would be turning our design into a functioning app, as well as potentially adding a matching website. We would also like to employ web APIs and learn more about barcode scanning in order to make the app the best it could possibly be.
