Inspiration

Running a beauty business is far more complex than managing a calendar. Salon owners constantly juggle bookings, walk-ins, staff schedules, customer preferences, delays, and day-to-day operations. Existing booking software solves only a small part of that problem.

We wanted to build something bigger: an AI-native operating system for beauty businesses. Instead of focusing only on appointments, Beautime helps businesses manage time, people, services, and customer experiences from one intelligent platform.

What it does

Beautime is an AI-powered beauty operations platform built for salons, spas, barbershops, and beauty professionals.

The platform includes:

Intelligent appointment scheduling AI-assisted booking recommendations Timeline-based operations management Staff and resource management Customer experience portal Live operations dashboard Analytics and business insights Marketplace for beauty products and services AI concierge for customers and businesses

Rather than simply booking appointments, Beautime continuously helps businesses optimize their operations throughout the day.

How we built it

Beautime was designed as a modern multi-tenant SaaS application.

The frontend was built with React, TypeScript, TanStack Router, and a reusable component system. Backend services use Supabase for authentication, database, storage, and realtime capabilities.

OpenAI Codex was used extensively to accelerate implementation, refactoring, UI improvements, documentation, and engineering workflows. GPT-5.5 was used throughout the project for architecture reviews, product planning, UX refinement, and technical decision making.

The application evolved through multiple iterations, with continuous reviews of architecture, usability, scalability, and production readiness.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was balancing ambitious functionality with the limited time available during the Build Week.

Designing a timeline-first scheduling system that could support real operational workflows required several architectural revisions. We also spent significant effort improving the user experience so the platform felt like a polished product rather than a collection of features.

Managing AI-assisted development responsibly was another challenge. We treated AI as a collaborative engineering tool while ensuring that product decisions and architecture remained intentional.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud that Beautime became much more than a booking application.

Highlights include:

AI-assisted scheduling Timeline-based operations management Multi-tenant architecture Live operations dashboard Beauty marketplace Customer experience portal Analytics platform Enterprise-oriented architecture suitable for future growth

Most importantly, we built a cohesive platform instead of disconnected features.

What we learned

This project reinforced that AI dramatically accelerates software development when paired with strong product thinking and software architecture.

We also learned that building enterprise software isn't just about adding features. User experience, operational workflows, scalability, and maintainability are equally important.

Finally, we learned that the best results come from treating AI as a collaborator rather than an autopilot.

What's next for Beautime: AI Beauty Operations Platform

After Build Week, we plan to continue expanding Beautime with:

Native mobile applications Online payments Loyalty and membership programs Inventory management Public APIs Advanced AI recommendations Multi-location enterprise support Integrations with third-party business tools

Our vision is to make Beautime the operating system for modern beauty businesses.
