Beauty and Skin-care Application

Inspiration

We got the inspiration from the difficulty when searching for skin-care products that are suitable for our skin, as we have to put more efforts into learning what our skin type is, what are suitable, and what not. Moreover, finding a true make-up style is hard sometimes, as we have to waste so much money and time for trials and errors phase. Therefore, we have thought of the application on the phone that can help with fast, reliable, and free.

What it does

Our interactive beauty application is designed for users of all ages, offering two main categories: skincare and makeup. With a seamless AI-powered experience, users can explore beauty trends, receive expert recommendations, and personalize their routines.
Upon signing up or logging in, they are directed to the home page, where they can access the app’s core feature—the AI-powered skin scanner. This feature provides a detailed skin report, analyzing skin condition, type, undertone, and personal color while recommending suitable makeup styles. Users can then explore the tutorial page, choosing between "Glow & Go" for skincare or "Slay the Look" for makeup, where they gain access to expert reports, AI-driven product recommendations, and animated tutorial videos.

The app also features an AI-powered chatbot for real-time beauty advice and a community page where users can share experiences and product reviews. Additionally, the settings page allows users to manage their accounts, update passwords, and log out.

How we built it

We started by analysing the requirements for the application and its main product—what we want to deliver. After that, we commenced on drafting a system through the wire-frame method. By having the system wireframe, we continued designing the appearance prototype. Finally, we put everything on Canva and design the system and its user journey.

Challenges we ran into

During the progress, we ran into trouble finding the right tools to prototype our ideas, as not all of our members are technology-related or graphic design-related students. However, through effective communication, we found Canva, where we could collaboratively work on the project with no fees.

Achievements that we're proud of

We take pride in an integrated design and usability of our website. As we had an effective communication method, we could quickly adapt to the main concept and ensure high efficiency.

What we learned

In this project, we have learnt how to communicate effectively, how to prototype a phone application, and how collaborate as well as learn the priciples of User Experience.

What's next for Beauty and Skin-care Application

Through the prototype, we are planning on training our own AI agents in order to integrate it in our system, which will be trained on data collected from various beauty review pages and from dermatologists. Moreover, develop a system to store users' information and deploy the application.
