Inspiration

People with disabilities are a large and growing market, yet they are often excluded from participating in the beauty and makeup industry. This exclusion can have a significant impact on their self-esteem and confidence. According to a survey by the National Retail Federation, the disability market in the United States alone is worth over $200 billion in annual disposable income.

We also believe that: “True inclusion is when people’s abilities are included in every step of the process, and accessibility is not an afterthought”.

What it does

An end-to-end mobile application that caters to the entire makeup journey from purchase to application. The aim is to empower the disabled and also make it available for the non-disabled.

How we built it

A low fidelity Figma prototype showcasing the product features and how we envision it to work. We'll be leveraging technology such as Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision, Augmented Reality, Voice activated systems, speech-to-text etc. It will also be optimised per the users' disability.

Challenges we ran into

We had difficulty sourcing relevant data. We then had to streamline the key problems to solve and key features on the platform

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're able to demonstrate our idea and we believe that the solution will be a game changer for users' with disabilities.

What we learned

There's still so much to do and build. We need to work to ensure that accessibility is not an after thought.

What's next for Beau!

Expand on the offering, build, deliver and test with users.
