Inspiration
Our inspiration for this project was a mix of RPG games and augmented reality games (ie. Pokemon Go).
What it does
The application can track your location, navigate to a destination, and will play music automatically when you enter customizable zones.
Challenges we ran into
As a pair of beginners with two teammates (one of which was experienced) who were unable to show up, we were stranded in terms of knowledge and experience. Having only learned Python from the first few weeks of class, we had to try and use JavaScript, HTML, and CSS; all of which were foreign languages to us. We tried to learn from mentors and through the internet but came short.
How we built it
While we were able to create a basic HTML, access the map and create the styles, unfortunately, the program we submitted was made using AI. Despite knowing how difficult our idea would be to create, it was an idea that was born through our interests and passions -- so we wanted to see it through.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of participating in our first hackathon even with only two team members and trying to do what we could, even if we have nothing to show from it.
What we learned
We learned that not everything works out even when you try.
What's next for Beat Map
The vision was that Beat Map could become an app that people use to set moods and make their world more interactive and fun. We were planning to have users create worlds with music and share them with others. And we also wanted to add features like changes in BPM with speed or changes in vibes at different times of day -- maybe even pairity with Spotify to connect playlists to zones.
