Beast Mode Shower Finder

Have you ever been in a tight situation and needed access to a shower on campus? Beast Mode makes your life much easier by locating the nearest shower on campus.

Inspiration

After a couple years of being CS majors, we determined that the CS-majors-not-showering rumor was true. After an idea from our friend Adrien (who provided us the shower data), we decided to make a dream come to life. Our goal is to destigmatise the “uncool” rhetoric around taking showers within the Computer Science program by providing guidance to accessible hygiene facilities. This also can be used to students who do not have access to these facilities on a regular basis.

What it does

Using the Google Maps API, we can access every shower on campus relative to your location.

How we built it

We used the Google Maps API.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into a lot of merge conflicts, and had some difficulties deciding what environment we wanted to use. In the end we decided simpler was better and just used raw HTML/CSS/JS files.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're really proud of placing all the shower markers on the map, and giving the user the option to direct there with google maps. We're also very proud of our UI.

What we learned

We learned all about teamwork! We also learned why branching is important, and the importance of proper data entry.

What's next for Beast Mode Shower Finder

We plan on fixing a few bugs, and maybe adding free shower locations outside of campus into the greater Corvallis area.
