bearList is inspired by UC Berkeley's Free and For Sale Facebook page, where students sell nearly anything from housing sublets to half used shampoo bottles to members of the community. However, Facebook is a subpar platform for casual commerce: postings get buried quickly, searching is not as powerful as it should be, and students may not want to reveal their accounts to each other.

bearList is our solution. We developed a site using Parse as the underlying platform to allow students to quickly and easily post sales listings to fellow, LOCAL students. Messaging, powered by Moxtra, allows students to easily negotiate prices for that half used shampoo bottle and coordinate local meetups.

Because bearList uses Parse, we have also drafted an Android app as proof of concept for cross platform and mobile capabilities.
