Inspiration
All members of our team belong to the Biomedical Engineering Society, and often have trouble with attendance logging, as well as the tricky campus regulations on Registered Student Organizations checking attendees' covid vaccination status. To make the process easier for ourselves and our students, we wanted to streamline the process, and also make it easier for us to keep everyone safe on campus
What it does
Process of using app, user side:
- Create an account (profile = name, berkeley email). This will send a confirmation code to your email → used to verify the account. This profile info is saved.
- Can choose to sync with bcalendar if desired (certain color coded events, in person events, will automatically show up with the title and location
- Before an event, create a new event OR click on auto-populated bcalendar event
- This will take you to a page to upload your campus access badge (etang)
- Take a photo or choose from library (discard/cancel option too)
- Select + submit badge
- Two options in a new panel
- Thank you for submitting your badge! You’re cleared. Next button
- QR Code with home button at top right
- Thank you for submitting your badge! Unfortunately, your clearance status is not compliant. Please schedule a COVID test in order to be compliant. Schedule test button + home button at top right
Process of using app, admin side: Will be a spreadsheet with every person who signs up for the app Sync app to master calendar with all in person events so that the attendance spreadsheet will log all responses within that time frame
How we built it
Some brainstorm, then UI app design
Challenges we ran into
unfortunately not enough time
Accomplishments that we're proud of
we're a group of beginner hackers in the bioengineering sphere, and we as a group decided to go for this challenge, and did a decent attempt!
What we learned
What's next for Bear Pass
Further app and software development to link to a database
