Inspiration

What inspired us to create BeanBot was discord's wide range of availability to create servers to connect people of all types together, as a result, we wanted to create a bot that anyone can use together.

What it does

What BeanBot does is basically a simple agenda listing, where users can input and delete messaged events or assignments that they would want to save on a list to see or do later. Other than that, BeanBot is also a companion bot, where they can upload quotes and interact with the user via game or parrot messaging (repeated responses)

How we built it

We built BeanBot using Replit and their databases, via Python. As well as implementing ZenQuotes API to upload inspirational messages.

Challenges we ran into

One of the challenges we ran into was implementing timed messaging, like a reminder to do a specific task on this certain date and time. Along with that, the time that we had set aside for this hackathon was not enough to create this feature.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Accomplishments that we are proud of are that this is our first implementation of a discord bot!

What we learned

We learned that Discord Bots are client/event-based, where they basically run on listening and responses messages

What's next for BeanBot

What is next for BeanBot is still the implementation of a timed reminder, as well as many other features that can be thought from anyone in the world, as our purpose for BeanBot is to be versatile for anyone, who matter who the person is in Discord.
