Beacon is a physical social interaction device built on the ESP8266 that connects two people and suggests an activity for them to do together. Users scan a QR code on their phone to join a shared queue — when the first person scans, a ring of red LEDs lights up on the device. When a second person scans, the blue LEDs join them. Once both users have made their selections, the device pulses and waits — pressing the joystick button triggers a flashing red/blue light show with a buzzer reveal, and the suggested activity scrolls across a 16x2 LCD screen. The whole system polls a live Vercel API every 3 seconds to stay in sync with the web app in real time.
