Inspiration

Many young people face challenges such as bullying, social isolation, academic pressure, family conflicts, and uncertainty about the future. While support often exists, many individuals do not know where to find it or who to turn to. We created Beacon AI to help people navigate difficult situations by connecting them with the right resources, support systems, and next steps within their communities

What it does

Beacon AI is an AI-powered guidance platform that helps users understand their situations and discover appropriate support options. Users can describe a challenge they are facing, and Beacon AI analyzes the situation, estimates the level of concern, and provides personalized recommendations The platform suggests practical next steps, connects users to relevant community resources, and provides important contact information when additional support may be needed. Beacon AI also prioritizes privacy by allowing users to control and permanently delete their data

How we built it

We built Beacon AI as a web application using modern web technologies and artificial intelligence. The platform processes user input, analyzes the context of their situation, evaluates potential risk factors, and generates personalized guidance. We also integrated resource recommendations, community support pathways, and privacy-focused features to create a safe and accessible experience

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was ensuring that the platform provides meaningful guidance while remaining responsible and unbiased. Another challenge was designing a system that can handle many different types of situations while maintaining user privacy and trust

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of creating a platform that helps users move from uncertainty to action. Beacon AI not only analyzes situations but also guides users toward relevant community support resources and practical next steps. We are especially proud of the platform's focus on accessibility, privacy, and social impact

What we learned

Through this project, we learned how AI can be used to support communities and help people access resources more effectively. We also gained experience in designing user-centered systems, implementing privacy-focused features, and building technology that creates positive social impact

What's next for Beacon AI

In the future, we plan to expand the platform's resource network, improve personalization, support additional languages, and strengthen connections with community organizations and support services. Our goal is for Beacon AI to become a trusted guide that helps people find the right support whenever they need it
