Inspiration

We really wanted to make a VR puzzle game similar to Portal.

What it does

It takes you through a few levels of different puzzles with increasing difficulty

How we built it

Unity for the game engine. Blender for 3D low poly models. FL Studio for music. Gimp for textures.

Challenges we ran into

We spent a few hours trying to set up the Oculus Rift but the HDMI wouldn't set up. We had a physics layering problem where objects collide with objects they weren't supposed to.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We love how we got two objects to be mirrored across the Z plane in real time with physics. We also love how objects interact with objects that are only on the reflected dimension of the game.

What we learned

The Oculus Rift requires an HDMI to be setup directly to the graphics card, so we may bring a rig to the next event. The layering system in unity is very versatile and can lead to some crazy experiences.

What's next for Narcissus

We might explore the idea of adding new puzzle mechanics and more levels in the future!
