Inspiration
Although many schools throughout NYC offer free tutoring, the times may not always be convenient when one has a job and doing part-time schoolwork. After researching and finding Be My Eyes, we have decided to create Be My Tutor
What it does
Be My Tutor offers a free map to libraries and also offers the option to find a tutor within the app or become a tutor as well. Everything is done voluntarily and you would not have to find any sort of monetary needs to pay for it.
How we built it
Using Python (and its libraries) and Flask, we have designed the app to work and to have form for new tutors. Using Folium and Pandas, our map was essentially made using the coordinates of the QPL.
Challenges we ran into
With this being our first time building such an app, we had to read the documentation to figure out certain things. We wanted to expand into a database using SQL yet we ran out of time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of and What's next for Be My Tutor
We are proud of what we made so far even though it is not so grand, we plan to expand it and actually focus on the nitty gritty.
