Inspiration
Whenever I am unsure of how to behave, no matter the situation, I confront it with love and kindness. I am not always successful but I try. I think the world needs more kindness and compassion. To recognize that we are more similar than different and all desire the same level of safety in our daily lives. I wanted to create a filter that reminded people to be kind, towards others and towards themselves.
What it does
This is a World Effect with 2D and 3D components. The text will pulse towards the user and upon the tap, the side hearts will pulse to sounds.
How I built it
The 3D letters and heart were modified in Blender. The 2D writing was made in Photoshop. Everything was build within the Spark AR editor.
Challenges I ran into
Originally wanted to use emitters to react to the audio analyzer but it is apparently not possible to modify the scale of particles, while emitted, at the moment. Then, I wanted to use hand tracking to emit hearts form the palm of user's hand facing the 3D text, but Hand Tracking & Select are not compatible with Instagram.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
This is my fourth filter to be published and my first Hackathon. I am proud to have pushed myself through to this hackathon. I am glad to have tested the audio analyzer and Energy meter - both new tools to me since my last filter. Can't wait to have Hand Tracking. I enjoy creating filters and this hackathon pushed me to dive in again!
What I learned
I would have liked to spend more time on creating the 3D assets and an animation that would have enhanced the filter. I also learned that sometimes simple is best, not all filters emitters and things flying all around (as I usually like to have), sometimes the words can simply resonate. The Spark AR Creators community on Facebook is my guide for all the filters I created. People are extremely helpful and supportive and I have learned a lot from them.
What's next for Be Kind
I'd love to update it with hand tracking so that people can put out their hand and have hearts flying out of their palm, giving love to the world. Whenever you give, you get it back, and you're more inclined to give again and again.
