Inspiration
We developed our fitness app from personal experience, understanding the challenge of initiating change due to a lack of confidence. Together, our group has lost over 150 pounds, and we recall feeling too shy or insecure to visit the gym. We believe an app like ours would have significantly eased our journey. A weight loss journey is inherently stressful, and our aim is to simplify it for those in similar situations.
What it does
The app is a fitness health application for individuals hesitant to start their fitness journey, offering a safe space to learn and grow. It combines inspiration with actionable home workouts and gym equipment tutorials, breaking down mental and physical barriers. This app goes beyond mere exercise—it’s about nurturing confidence and knowledge, ensuring a secure informed path to health. It’s not just a fitness platform; it's a catalyst for change, fostering an environment where every user can thrive
How we built it
Our process involved starting with a design on paper, followed by a digital version. We designed the user interface for each page and then divided the work among ourselves, each focusing on separate git branches. We used Javascript, React, Swift, Typescript for our languages. We merged our code via GitHub at the top of every hour.
Challenges we ran into
The most significant challenge we faced, aside from learning new languages, was implementing our APIs. This was where we devoted most of our time, dealing with issues like our API being blocked after excessive calls. Nonetheless, we successfully completed all API-related tasks.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of our achievements in learning new programming languages and mastering API usage. Our successful conveyance of our core message through web development also stands as a significant accomplishment.
What we learned
Throughout the project, only one member had experience with React and JavaScript, presenting a steep learning curve. However, through attending workshops and collaborating at every step, we are incredibly proud of our final product.
What's next for Be Better
We hope to keep working the final version of the project and create a full stack application that can be deployed and hosted so that we can share it with like minded inviduals and a bigger audience
