Inspiration
Textbooks are expensive and the bookstore is difficult, and not all books are rentable. Students are often left having to purchase expensive textbooks and just keep them out of difficulty of getting rid of them.
What it does
Our website allows students to easily sell or purchase textbooks that other students have listed and set up a meeting with them to exchange books/cash.
How we built it
We used an HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frontend with a Spring Boot Java backend and a relational database managed through Hibernate to handle data persistence.
Challenges we ran into
Hosting on a server through render, database management.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Securely storing usernames, passwords, adapting listings in real time to reflect new/removed listings.
What we learned
Web Development.
What's next for Bc BookSwap
We are going to continue refining the website, making sure user experience is clean and easy, like profile editing, messaging, automated emails, etc.
