Inspiration

The indulgence of risky sexual activities by youth at disco funerals might lead to unplanned teenage pregnancies or getting infected with sexually transmitted diseases including HIV infection. For those youth who get pregnant, this might result in dropping out of school which then leads to low literacy levels and increased poverty within urban slums areas.

What it does

Our unique value proposition is offering: SRH education in a fun way through a talent show event A stall where the youth can sell their own products (hobbies - e.g. painting, beadwork, etc) A home-based SRH kit that is tailored according to the target audience age A booklet that guides parents on how to speak to their kids about SRH issues

How we built it

We created a user journey map that showcases the different touchpoints and opportunities for us to design for

Challenges we ran into

Misunderstanding the hackathon was tech-based and we spent a lot of time in the dark swamp of despair to point of quitting. We developed a different idea and had to talk with one of the facilitators who helped us gain an understanding of what direction we wanted to take

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Creating the journey map helped us understand what areas we needed to work on further

What we learned

How to prepare for social loafing when working in a team to avoid some team members putting in less effort than others which might discourage the team Speed dating with the mentors helped us identify things we had not considered such as our revenue model and how to price SRH kit

What's next for Bazunation

We intend to conduct a usability test session with our target audience for: the proposed Talent Development Show event and SRH kit We also intend to have a participatory design workshop where we invite our target audience to co-design The activities that should take place during the talent development show event The contents of the SRH kit
