Baymax Med-AI is a movie character where he is a robot nurse. Similarly, our AI model is also works as a medical nurse assistant to the doctors.
Introduction
In Canada, patients experience an average wait time of 82 minutes before seeing a doctor. This long wait is inconvenient and delays critical care. In Quebec, wait times can even exceed upto 20 hours, making it extremely difficult for individuals in severe pain. Physicians spend about 25% of their time in patient meetings just on note-taking, reducing the time and quality in doctor-patient interaction.
This is where Baymax Med-AI Assistantcomes in. Inspired by the growing need for efficiency in healthcare, Baymax Med-AI eliminates the burden of manual note-taking and retrieves real-time patient data, summarizing the medical history instantly.

What it does
Baymax Med-AI is GenAI that helps in retreiving and summarising the past medical history of a patient to help the doctor with quick assistance in reviewing the reports. It maintains EHR (Electronic Health Report) profile of the patients and summarises the past medical history when prompted by the doctor. It is also a speech-to-text transcription feature to help the doctor with notetaking. It helps the doctor to provide undivided attention to the patient and increase efficiency by eliminating the manual work.

- Snowflake: A cloud data platform that stores and processes clinical and patient data, providing the foundation for data retrieval and analysis.
- Cortex AI Analyst: A powerful tool used for generating insights and analyzing clinical data, helping the AI model understand and summarize medical histories effectively.
- Streamlit: An open-source framework that allows us to build interactive web applications, providing an intuitive and user-friendly interface for doctors and healthcare professionals.
- Azure Cognitive Speech: A cloud-based service for speech recognition that powers the transcription feature, allowing Baymax Med-AI to accurately convert doctors' spoken words into text for seamless integration into the patient's medical records.
How we built it
Baymax Med-AI utilizes cutting-edge GenAI and Large Language Models (LLMs) to analyze clinical data and patient records. The tech stack enables seamless data processing and visualization, delivering real-time insights and summaries that streamline the doctor's workflow. The integration of speech-to-text transcription ensures that the system becomes an invaluable tool for increasing efficiency in healthcare settings.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge was to gather project relevant data from the sources on the web. And bridging gaps between different data formats was also a major hurdle.
