Inspiration

Managing daily academic life, locating campus transport, and accessing official notices across Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) often involved fragmented channels. We were inspired to build BAU Smart Campus Platform—a unified digital ecosystem designed to connect students, faculty, and administration seamlessly.

What it does

BAU Smart Campus Platform simplifies daily university life with essential features:

• Live Transport Tracking: Real-time updates on campus buses to streamline commuting.
• Centralized Notice Board: Instant access to university and departmental announcements.
• Interactive Navigation: Smart campus routing to locate halls, faculties, labs, and offices.
• Student & Emergency Directory: Quick access to academic portals and key institutional contacts.

How we built it

• Frontend: Built with React and Tailwind CSS for a fast, responsive user interface.
• Backend: Node.js and Express.js providing secure REST APIs and dynamic endpoints.
• Database: MongoDB for flexible data modeling and user data management.
• Deployment: Hosted on Vercel with GitHub version control integration.

Challenges we ran into

• Real-Time Data Sync: Managing real-time transport tracking required optimizing payload sizes to reduce network latency.
• Pathfinding Efficiency: Implementing campus navigation algorithms while ensuring route calculation complexity stayed within $O((V + E) \log V)$.
