Inspiration
High School: Battle Chase began with a simple idea — bring the chaos and laughter of a schoolyard tag game into the world of social VR. Inspired by multiplayer chase games and the tension of hidden-role experiences like Among Us, we wanted to recreate that feeling of running through hallways, dodging friends, and flipping the outcome in an instant.
First Iteration
This first version is a core prototype focused entirely on the role-switch mechanic — no power-ups yet, just pure tag-and-chase fun.
Two teams: Taggers (red) and Runners (blue)
When a Tagger touches a Runner, they swap roles instantly
A match ends when time runs out or one team remains
This iteration focuses on testing movement flow, speed, and player interaction inside a stylized school cafeteria — a multi-level playground with stairs, tables, and open sightlines perfect for tactical chases.
How We Built It
Built in Meta Worlds, the prototype uses collider-based logic and lightweight scripting for smooth tag transitions. We focused on:
Responsive movement and stamina balance
Clear visual cues (colored auras)
Fast, replayable rounds lasting 5–10 minutes
Future Plans
Following our full GDD, future updates will introduce:
powerups such as Reverse Orb, Safe Zone, and Slow Down
newmaps including the gymnasium and rooftop
hiddenroles and #asymmetricmodes for strategic variety
leaderboards, #badges, and #cosmetics for social progression
Our goal is to evolve High School: Battle Chase into the most thrilling social chase experience in Horizon Worlds — where every round is a race, a strategy match, and a burst of pure fun.
