We wanted to create this app because it seems like there it was a niche utility that hasn't yet been filled in the OS X app ecosystem. After using Macs for years, we wanted to have a better idea of our battery usage over time, and be able to have a battery estimation algorithm that is better suited to our personal tendencies for power consumption.
We are most proud of the battery charge/discharge graph visualization in the center of our app. It provides a way to easily view and determine what points in time were most demanding on the laptop's battery. Users will be able to store and browse information beyond the 12 hour battery graph that Activity Monitor contains, which should allow for more in-depth analysis than was previously available.
While this hackathon only gives us 36 hours to begin designing our app, we believe there are lots of opportunities for expansion in features and design. A rewrite of the graphing code should allow for us to indicate charging/discharging time and rate and perhaps select pre-made time intervals (24h, 7d, 1m, etc). With more time, we could also begin to develop a better algorithm for estimation of battery charge/discharge rate, introducing a machine-learning aspect of the program.
