Inspiration

Vibe coding alone wasn’t enough. I wanted to become a real, hands-on coder without losing creativity or momentum. I was frustrated by tools that assume perfect conditions: a laptop, stable internet, long focus windows, and formal education paths. Real life doesn’t work like that.

So I built Based Codey to let me learn, build, and ship from anywhere, even from my phone. The deeper inspiration was democratizing access to real software development—so learning to code isn’t locked behind privilege, hardware, or gatekeeping.

What it does

Based Codey is an AI-powered, production-oriented coding environment that allows the user to build real applications end-to-end in a conversational, hands-on way, with the option for education.

It combines:

– Various AI agents with differing reasoning levels (from snippet repair to project level reasoning)

– A live editor and preview environment

– Tasking, annotations, and iterative workflows

– Mobile-first usability so I can ship from anywhere

– It’s not just “generate code”—it’s learning by building, with real files, real structure, and real ownership.

– Still, if you want just "generate code" it can do that.

How we built it

I built Based Codey solo using:

– React + TypeScript for the core app

– A live editor/preview architecture optimized for mobile and desktop

– Local persistence and cloud-ready workflows

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was making complex developer workflows work on mobile without breaking UX. Things like flex layouts, viewport constraints, headers, and non-scrollable designs behave very differently on real mobile browsers.

Another challenge was resisting over-automation. I didn’t want an app that replaced learning—I wanted one that forced me to stay hands-on, even when using AI.

And as a solo founder, everything—from debugging to design to agent behavior—was on me.

Next, I want to:

– Expand multi-agent collaboration

– Add deeper project memory and versioning

– Improve onboarding for non-traditional learners

– Open the platform to creators, artists, and builders who don’t fit the “typical” developer mold

– Incorporate other learning environments (C++, Rust, Rive)

Based Codey is the foundation for a new kind of developer education—self-directed, AI-augmented, and accessible anywhere. I hope to have built the project that will create the next generation of ethical, tech millionaires and billionaires around the world.
