Inspiration
This YouTube video and Tinder are the inspirations to create Barter. However, Barter is more than just a challenge or a dating app. It is the bridge to connect people, make new friends, and most importantly, reduce the amount of trash. Giving old stuff instead of throwing them away keeps us Green.
Barter - for a better world!
For individuals:
Why trash it if for nothing when you can exchange it for something? Barter connecting you with people who would exchange your guitar sitting in your attic for 9 months that you never used for something you would use.
For community:
According to Michigan's government, each person throws away over 50 lbs of clothing that could be reused or recycled. Barter can help reduce this number not only for clothing but also for other trash types.
How we built it
Barter is created using Node.js and Firebase.
Challenges we ran into
One of the major challenges that we ran into was having to do a lot of coding in a pretty short amount of time while also not entirely breaking our sleep schedules for the week. Although we had to make a few sacrifices, we made the final version meet our expectations.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of our entire project in both the design and features that we wanted it to have and the features and design that it currently has.
What we learned
One of the major areas we got to improve a lot on was time management and communication between the team members. We also learned several skills and practices that can be used in professional web development.
