Inspiration

Knowledge is the epitome of the human mind. 'Barter' sets up a stage for the people containing ever-growing curiosity and unstoppable passion. To gain a skill set that lets us enter a domain of a completely different stage, a skill set that makes us feel better about ourselves, something that makes us finally learn and apply new concepts in our lives, the concepts that always overwhelmed us, now become handy. Being international students, the path to education and endless learning came with an expensive price to pay. Making 'Barter' available to everyone makes it more effective and makes a difference by being there only for its people. We can finally gain as much knowledge as we want in this world full of infinite chances, today, we take a step closer to our aim.

What it does

We made a skill-sharing app that eliminates financial dependency and opens up an arena for limitless knowledge and unbiased opportunity with AI and AR implementation. The wish to always learn that one thing that gives you the goosebumps and makes you want to live more can now be fulfilled. The fear of not knowing will now go away. 'Barter' provides us a platform full of people who are excited to teach something new to the people, a platform where people can gain, share or exchange skills without the barrier of accessibility because everything that you were looking for, is here.

How we built it

With the four of us being friends for a long time and sharing the same dream to make 'Barter' accessible to all and get it out in our beautiful and curious world, the job to build it was equally distributed amongst all. With setting different times to work over front-end, back-end and one of the newest technologies, AR, we were able to manage the job get done before the set limit for the hackathon.

Challenges we ran into

Making python, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and React work together came up with a few challenges that took us some time to get through. One of the toughest challenges we've ever faced was the challenge posed by AR. AR is one of the latest technologies in our industry and it is definitely the future. Getting the help of Snapchat, we were able to access the most exclusive Snapchat Spectacles, made us work with things we never dreamed about.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Getting AR to work together with the foundation of our product has to be one of the greatest accomplishments for our team. Snapchat Spectacles gave us the awesome opportunity that made us go through tough challenges and the final product was worth everything.

What we learned

We learned is many amazing things here at Shellhacks. Including new challenges and obstacles, the biggest and the best thing we got to learn was how to work with the Snapchat Spectacles and make them combine with our product.

What's next for Barter

This is just the beginning to our great dream of bringing the world together on our platform and creating a sense of unity amongst us.
