Today many people face digital barriers that limit access to technology education and opportunities. I wanted to build something that uses AI to make the digital world more inclusive and accessible for everyone.
What it does
BarrierBreaker AI is a platform that identifies user challenges in real-time and provides AI-powered solutions like accessibility improvements smart content suggestions and personalized learning support.
How I built it
I used AWS services like SageMaker and Lambda for the backend AI models. The frontend is built with React and Tailwind CSS. The system is hosted on AWS using S3 and CloudFront for fast global access.
Challenges I ran into
One big challenge was training models that work well across different types of users with diverse needs. Another challenge was optimizing costs while using powerful AWS services.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I am proud that the platform is lightweight fast and actually makes a measurable difference in user accessibility scores. Also proud that I managed to keep it affordable using AWS credits smartly.
What I learned
I learned a lot about building scalable AI apps on AWS. I also improved my skills in user-centered design making sure that technology adapts to people not the other way around.
What's next for BarrierBreaker AI
Next I want to integrate real-time voice-to-text features and multilingual support to make the platform even more inclusive. I also plan to open-source parts of the project to help others build on it.
