Inspiration

We were inspired to make this project by several different factors. The storyline was made because we wanted to make a game that would express our ideas and humor in a creative manner.

What it does

Our game has the player in the shoes of Barney the Bear, a grizzly bear who seeks to defend his forest from large lumber corporations such as Lumber Co.

How we built it

We used Scratch's game development software and self-developed art samples in order to build our games software and visuals.

Challenges we ran into

We spent much of our time debugging some small gameplay issues and focused on finding ways to make the gameplay experience as smooth and aesthetically pleasing as possible.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud for having developed, what we consider, to be a fun and creative game during the duration of this competition, and for being able to learn much about the programming and design process as we kept on building upon our original ideas.

What we learned

We learned that much of the design process requires vivid planning and creativity as well as, sometimes, a toiling debugging process when things don't always go our way.

What's next for Barney Saves the Trees

Originally, we planned much more content than what we were able to program in this short duration of time, so we plan to, eventually, finish Barney's environmentally friendly battle against deforestation.
