Inspiration
For any student that has ever had to pay for a service like top hat that serves as a glorified piece of paper, they know the frustration you feel when you have to drop $30 just to get an attendance grade. I do not want any students paying for services that could easily be done by passing around a sheet of paper.
What it does
Bark offers an attendance check alternative, and polling questions in the future, to services like top hat that UGA could host so that it would be free to all students. Bark was also made in mind to be very easy to maintain and set up so that other organizations can also use the service to help their students.
How we built it
I coded it. I also took a lot of help from flask tutorial online since I did not know anything about flask up until about a couple days ago.
Challenges we ran into
My major challenge was learning flask and all of its various extensions since I had never used flask before. Also being solo was definitely a big challenge as well.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am proud that I took the initiative to learn a new framework and develop a project that I am actually proud of.
What we learned
I learned just how challenging it is to actually build a fully featured web app, and that it probably takes more than two days to perfect it.
What's next for Bark
I would like to get the attention of UGA to possibly make this a reality so that no student at UGA has to pay more out of pocket than they already do.
