Inspiration

I am a physics major, the lack of diversity in physics has been a problem for centuries. I wanted to make a simple game that uses interests in barbie to get more women interested in learning physics

What it does

Simple game with a fun background story that essentially makes you answer simple multiple choice physics questions to "make an atomic bomb" to defeat your enemy.

How we built it

We used python and specifically relied on a library called pygame to make the game.

Challenges we ran into

No prior knowledge to pygame made it that we searched up many examples online to learn how to use the library properly.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are mostly proud of the idea for the game, not as much the game itself. We would like to improve the game and actually take a look into game engines to properly make a more interesting game.

What we learned

Work on something you are interested in and then it doesn't feel like work anymore. We struggled to come up with a fun idea during the weekend. We came up with other projects but they were boring and even though this project was last minute and we couldn't do what we truly wanted to do with this project, we enjoyed the time working on it and would like to keep working on the project to make it the fun interesting game we really wanted it to be. Also new knowledge of pygame.

What's next for Barbenheimer

The game format will be changed drastically. We would actually like to make a world where you play as barbie and can openly move around and will have to go to scientists throughout America to answer questions/ do tasks to continue to make progress on the bomb. The game right now is basically a fun quiz which if we made it so you can move in an open world and do tasks and side missions but still have to answer physics questions it would make it more interesting. Also I would add different levels to actually have a progression in physics knowledge. I would even like to add books/lectures/ references to look at for you to figure out answers to questions to keep moving forward in game. The questions I would like to add that aren't in this current game are actual physics questions that require problem solving skills.
