Inspiration

Taking Banorte's current app, we analyzed what we thought needed to be changed or rearranged in order to maintain a healthy user base that is loyal to the bank. Talking with the sponsor at the event, we came to learn a lot about the app, and it's uses, which inspired us to recreate it from the ground up, with an expedited on boarding experience that is quicker, faster, and safer, without human intervention while having only the necessary data.

What it does

This redesigned app keeps all of the previous app's functionalities as well as preserving the brand's identity while at the same time, allows users to explore the app's functions and windows with ease, having everything within easy access and following a user path that makes sense and comes as natural. Additionally, the app heavily incentivizes users to use Banorte's existing investment features in order to grow their money in a safe environment. It also offers personalized offers and financial tips that adapt and match the user's needs or situation.

How we built it

We built it using Figma to draw the mockups and set the tone for the app's design. After many tried attempts, we finally landed into what would become the final project’s design. Using Figma’s built in prototyping tools, we were able to stitch together the mockups to create a user workflow that is seamless and connects everything together effortlessly, showing a demo of how the final product may look like.

Challenges we ran into

Trying to redesign an app from scratch isn't easy, and it's even harder if it's a banking app. There are various features that banking apps offer that should be added into the new redesign, so no feature is left obsolete, and finding a way to make them all fit together while maintaining a harmony in the app is no easy task. Additionally, there are a lot of laws and concepts that we weren't familiar with, but we were able to abide by them with the help of the sponsor's counseling.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of the design that we managed to pull out, as well as how it all works so seamlessly without removing any features from the original app. We were also proud to be able to do it in a record time and have the prototype ready in time. We also were clever in thinking of new ways to incentivize the user to interact with the app and be loyal while also providing them with financial counseling and offer various personalized deals that we know they would take easily.

What we learned

We learn a lot on banking, this project didn't just teach us tech stuff such as how to use Figma and how to prototype in it, which of course also played a big part in what we learned, but it also taught us more in some way with financial education by listening to all of the features they offer and how they work, which we believe is the most valuable thing out of the learned things in the project.

What's next for Banorte User Experience Innovation

We hope to be chosen as Banorte's winning team so that we may help them make this a reality. It would be a dream true and would truly impact the lives of many people who use the banking app, as the entity has more than 7 million users. We also hope to have been useful and resourceful to Banorte so that they may keep pursuing the young talent from students in the coming years at Hack Mty.
