Inspiration

In our research we found that some key reasons for individuals being unbanked or underbanked was a lack of education or funds. To resolve this we wanted an app that educates people on financial literacy, and offers a cost-less bank account at the end to incentivize people to use it. The goal here is to improve their financial abilities and help them see the value of banking so that they can improve their finances and banks and increase their customer-base.

What it does

Its a mobile application that

  1. Allow users to learn more about banking terms
  2. Tests users on the key terms and concepts they learned through lessons
  3. Has an incentive after completion of lessons to help them get started banking

How we built it

We used android studio to develop our app, and github to spread the workload around.

Challenges we ran into

-Coordination & Planning -Git conflicts -Understanding how to use git -Front end formatting and functionality -Library dependencies -File reading -Sharing data across activities

Accomplishments that we're proud of

-Having a better understanding of version control -Creating a working app that we can be proud of for our first hackathon project (for some of us ) -Enjoying a weekend of meeting new people

What we learned

-How to merge file versions and resolve conflicts -How to structure and plan an app -Debugging various issues

What's next for Bankucation

-Adding more content -Organized and smaller lessons with smaller quizzes -Improved UI
