Hajj payment solution to allow pilgrim to pay with a temporary debit card

Inspiration

Most of pilgrims come to perform the Hajj and they bring cash money only with them, Thus, this solution is to provide a temporary bank account with a debit card that he/she can use during their short stay.

What it does

  • It provide a temporary account to hold pilgrim money during al Hajj period. -The ATM card can work on all sale points within Makkah only to help him not to carry cash. -This back account will be issued once he gets accepted for Hajj.
  • If the pilgrim losses the card he can issue a replacement anywhere in the Hajj area. -The pilgrim can only transfer balance to his family group only.
  • He cannot receive any amount from other external accounts for avoiding money laundry and national security purposes. So the account has no public IBAN.

How we built it

We have built a web based demo to show internal operations of the bank

Challenges we ran into

The idea itself is hard to be secured and has many security loopholes. That's our biggest challenge.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • We have build a working demo and all features are working
  • We have designed a concept idea of how the card would look like

What we learned

  • To expand out knowledge in different areas in technology
  • We have found a lot of our weakness points that we will work to improve in the future

What's next for Hajj Debit Card

  • To be the official method of payment in Hajj
